Anna Costello, Ph.D., is joining the Advisory Board for Smyyth’s Carixa Order-to-Cash Cloud, an advanced SaaS system. In this capacity, Dr. Costello will bring her significant research and experience to enhance predictive analytics for Carixa trade credit, collections, working capital, and revenue dilution (i.e, customer claims and deductions).
Dr. Costello is a Professor of Accounting at The University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Prior to this, she was an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Costello received her Bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from The University of Chicago.
Dr. Costello’s research initiatives include how information asymmetry between buyers and suppliers impacts the terms in long-term supply contracts and studies how trade credit between supply chain partners influences firm-specific and market-wide risk. Her research has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and The Accounting Review.
“Anna’s deep experience in using trade analytics to identify risk and improve the accuracy of credit scoring is a significant step in our continuing optimization of credit-to-cash automation,” said Shyarsh Desai, CEO of Carixa. “She brings incredible expertise, including the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in financial functions.”
Shyarsh added, “in a fast-changing environment, supply chains and trade relationships need better synchronization, so it’s imperative to leverage deep analytics for greater accuracy in the delivery and payment for goods and services. We look forward to Dr. Costello’s support in accomplishing these goals.”
